Mrvoš family lived in the Gomirje Disctrict  Serbian Orthodox Church monastery community and it is more than highly unlikely that Simica Mrvoš lived or emigrated from Zagreb.  Also Moravice that is the place of origin of your Dokmanović ancestor is part of that community too ( town was known as Srpske Moravice in previous times due to the fact that ethnic Serbs lived there) If you provide more details about your ancestors – where did they emigrate to, ship manifests, naturalization papers, if they remained Serbian Orthodox after emigrating, I may be able to help you a lot – my fathers family is from that community and I researched all of the existing records quite extensively. 🙂

Franciscus Gillich was born on July 17th 1889 and baptized on July 18th 1889. He was a legitimate child of parents Antonius Gillich and Elisabeth Matkesz, both Roman Catholics. Family address was Filipowa 410, and his godparents were Franciscus Hönig and Rovina Dickmann. He was baptized by priest Matthiaus Nagel.

Records for Roman Catholic Church for Pančevo are available to be researched in Pančevo state historical archive in Serbia. ( you would need to hire a researcher for that, and in a week or so we will have a list of recommended researchers up posted in the research section of our website : http://www.rodoslovlje.com/documentation/research ).

You should start with obtaining the birth record of your ancestor from these original records, and explore any further lineage before or after his birth,  and look for descendants of the same family in these original records.

For Pančevo, the records are available for the period 1718 -1895 for public research.

I do not know if LDS has these records on microfilm, check their catalog at family search . org. – if they have it you could then research the microfilms in a LDS center in your country – and I will help you with interpreting them – older records will be in Latin, and later ones (second half of the XIX century)  will be in Hungarian language.

I am sure that Donauschwaben Villages Helping Hands website and their coordinators for Pančevo will be able to help you with specific information on when family Zeiler first settled in Pančevo, and from where they originated before the colonisation to Banat area.

Other than that, I will check the available period records over here for any mention of the surname variants you provided and post here if I find anything.

So far locally I see only a couple of people from Serbia with surname Zeiler that are from Banat area and can  be found on facebook or in current public records, as well as a Zeiler who authored one of these village-family books for a village in Croatia – migrations back and forth across this whole region between Donauschwaben communities were quite common in XIX century.

Did you manage to locate his ship manifest? Was the marriage of your ancestor  to Godec before or after emigrating?

I see several entries for Nikola & Niko Šajatović from Sošice  before 1909  that would be right age for your ancestor – do you know if he traveled to US before emigrating finally around 1909?

Do you know if he were married prior to emigrating? I browsed the records for Sošice Greek Catholic parish that are online, and families Šajatović lived in smaller village – Jezernice, and in several households ( extended family commune called *zadruga*).

At the time your ancestor was born, there were probably several people in the parish and in that village with first name Nikola and last name Šajatović of approximately same age  born and living there in that tiny village – you will need more info to confirm which one you need – like first name of the father, or a name of a spouse in the old country if he were married before.

For first name of the father: people over there never had separate *middle* name – one given at baptism, so if they filled out any paperwork or forms after emigrating they often wrote according to their customs the first name of their father as their own middle name. Be on the lookout for any such document.

One of the people I found in ship manifest , Šajatović Niko, is the right age, born appr. 1875., and on one arrival  in 1902 he is listed as married , and to have previously been in US between 1895-1901. He is going to Cleveland, Ohio. If that is the one you are looking into then you should research the marriage records that are online.

I will post here for you an image of the marriage record  of one of these Niko Šajatovićs from Sošice who was born in 1875, married in 1899 at the age of 24, with notes and surname and first name of the groom you need highlighted, as well as that other piece of crucial info – household number – so that you can navigate these records more easily if you are willing to explore them on your own. 🙂 Unfortunatelly without more information that can be confirmed, I cannot tell you if this Niko Šajatović born in 1875.  from this marriage record is your ancestor or not.

For Bojanci village, land register information, year 1895. for the part DONJI (LOWER) BOJANCI this land register has household numbers – most important piece of information for researching the church and civil vital records to distinguish between families with same surname . These people were the heads of households in year 1895. ( where  only a woman is listed the male head is deceased). I put the names in their native tongue spelling in the brackets.
