 There are plenty of resources available  and there is absolutely no need  to *assume* anything, especially something as essential as the surname that someone asks you to help with :

–  original period records state that original surname in  records for XIX and first half of the XX century  in Cvijanović brdo is

DRAGOJEVIĆ. 
 Драгоевичь in Old Church Slavonic language that the church records are written in
 ДРАГОЈЕВИЋ in modern Serbian language Cyrillic script spelling

– Original surname  DRAGOJEVIĆ is confirmed in 1827. fragment of the original church vital records of the Serbian Orthodox Church – listed under *Blagaj*, image 7 record number 242:

If you are asking the central archive HDA about existing vital records: send and pay for an official request for information so that you receive accurate answer.

Make sure you ask for information on ALL state vital records for the same village/municipality (labeled *državni*)

If you are working in archives check ALL records for the area of interest. Especially check records labelled *military* or *state*, as well as those that are labelled to be Greek- Orthodox, or to be written in  other languages( Serbian orthodox Church  records were in some municipalities kept in Italian language, for instance and in some archives they are catalogued to be written not in Old Church Slavonic language – crkvenoslovenski, but  in *glagoljica* ).

(This original church vital record of the Serbian orthodox Church is labelled as *Roman Catholic Church vital records*. The additional note on the bottom screams in caps how the book was taken to be microfilmed while *Osijek is being destroyed by CHETNIKS ans YUGOSLAVIA !*. Blind ethnic hatred warranted typing out a special warning note  for these state archive administrators, althewhile the fact that the entire 27 years worth of original vital records, clearly and visibly not those of Roman Catholic Church but of Serbian Orthodox Church are  incorrectly filed and  catalogued, was not something impotant enough to be mentioned at all.)

-I did not transcribe the  surnames from the manifests for two men who are actuall yon the same page of a manifest in 1913. – on the list above they are:

***18    ?             Grdar, Luka Sjenicak, Hungary 1877 1913

and

***47    ?            Poje, Gjuro Sjenicak, Hungary 1890 1913

 These two surnames / passengers are not found in any of the period records  for SJENIČAK.

Tasch Katherine was born on November 14th 1911. in Deronje village.

Birth and baptism record for her was on behalf of our member  obtained from Kalocsa Diocese E-archive  for the year 1911. Vital records that are available for Dernye from this archive are for the period 1816 -1922.

First of all we need to know :

-whether he served in the army of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia ( that would be before 1941) – these soldiers when the war broke out mainly  joined the royalist chetniks movement and since they lost  to communist Yugoslav Peoples Liberation Army, after 1945. they fled the country, spent time in displaced persons camps and emigrated further.

People born in XX century should not be too hard to track down in the available records in their country/place of origin – but for Serbs with surname TOMIĆ – your options without knowing his place of birth include almost all successor states of former Yugoslavia. 😀

Orthodox* records for Uljanik, (Garešnica, Bjelovar)

-excellent condition. Parish covered villages Uljanik, Kreštelovac, Sređani and Trojeglava. Births, marriages, deaths 1829-1848. Some of the records may be a little harder to interpret because they are handwritten.

*Greek Catholic* records for PULA are actually mostly Serbian Orthodox  sailors military death records 1880-1885. Many are from Vojvodina region ( Mokrin, Subotica, Palanka) , as well as Dalmatia and Lika.

Their faith in records is labeled *Greek Orthodox*. The second page lists them as *grčkopravoslavni* . Surnames I noticed Dilber, Obranović, Gavran, Džepina , Svilokoš , Trbojević, Ivošević. (among others) Surnames are distroted  a lot both in Hungarian and Latin spellings, as well as first names. I see a few Rusyn family names  in this record too from Vojvodina.

I see  Croatian and Serbian soldiers born all over the place in today Serbia and Croatia. ( Perna, Modruš, Brinje, Petrinja, Utolica….Lika. Smiljan, Ogulin…Serbs from Croatia are labelled  as&coming from *Croatian* or *Slavonian* and the name are heavily germanized/hungaricanized re spelling ( surname SVILAR is spelled as ZWILAR, first name VID as WIDO etc. )

-Deaths 1886-1916 : labelled 31. poljsko-lovački bataljon. Fist page soldiers from Donji Lapac, Plaški, Tobiolić, Udbina, Josovica, Vagan. Serbs again labeled under  * Kroatien* . ( KUGA, UZELAC )

-Deaths 1914-1918 are *Poljska bolnica* – Field hospital. Soldiers from Požega, Varaždin, Pecs (Hungary) , Surduk  (Serbia).

-online the birth  records are labeled  to be Serbian Orthodox Church vital records- this is not the case: These are actually state (državni) copies of copies, created after WWII – later period and not original parish records. Inside on page two they are labelled in Croatian to be the records of Roman Catholics ( again incorrect).  These records were not made by Serbian Orthodox Church at all.

Religion and ethnicity are not noted in the birth records I browsed, but browsing along I see only Serbian people. Their *ethnicity* (narodnost) is incorrectly listed in marriage records as *eastern orthodox* which is in the original records what is written in the row that says * veroispovest* meaning religion .

There are some civil copies of original church marriage records  – these were made by the priests and were kept in municipal offices .( marriage records from 1898…)

Death records are again state transcripts of copies.
