Searching for family information regarding the following:

Ajdinovic from Batinova Kosa - Petar Ajdinovic - died 1928

Zlokas from Gredjani - Milka Zlokas - wife of Petar - also died 1928

Janjanin from Blatusa - Petrovim - changed name from Janjanin to Ajdinovic - Married female Ajdinovic

Interested in these ancestors and previous ancestors. Church was Svetka Petka in Donja Cemernica.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Hi,

Do you also have months and more precise dates? I don't know if you live in the region or not?

Regards,
Sergej

Sergej - Thanks for the reply. The dates of death that I have from a hand written draft letter only -

Petar Ajdinovic - Died February 21, 1928
Milka Ajdinovic - Died February 25, 1928

My information is that they were residents of Batinova Kosa. I live in the U.S. in the state of Indiana.
I believe that Milka was originally from Gredjani, and Janjanin from Blatusa.
9 of 11 Family members were eliminated by Ustache, so not a lot of info available
Thanks again

Sergej - I thought I had included info in my earlier reply - sorry
Petar Ajdinovic - died February 21, 1928
Milka Ajdinovic - died February 25, 1928 - Maiden name is Zlokas from Gredjani
My Paternal Grandfather Trivun - Born November 12, 1884? in Topusko - emigrated to US in 1905
Great Uncle Mile - Born 1891? in Topusko - emigrated to US in 1906
Great Uncle Djuro(sp?) - Captain in Yugoslav Army posted to Belgrade in 1937 - Killed during April War in Sarajevo
Great Aunt Joka - Died 1936 on Vidovdan
I live in the U.S. in the state of Indiana - I do not speak the language, but am very interested in the Genealogy - most of the info above was either from death certificates or hand written letters and notes that I have discovered.
Thanks - Joe

Hi Joe,

Ok, I suggest you start reading through the website, especially the Research and Learning Center. You should first try contact the archives using the letter template: http://www.rodoslovlje.com/sgs/letter-archives

Državni arhiv u Karlovcu
Lj. Šestića 5
47 000 Karlovac

Also, Family Search holds a lot of documents from Croatia. So I don't know if you tried that? I assume all data corresponds with Ellis Island?

Regards,
Sergej

Sergej - thanks again for your reply. I belong to both Ancestry.com and Familysearch.org. Both are very little help searching for ethnic ancestors. My ancestors who emigrated here arrived in Baltimore.
My Father (who is 91 years old) never knew his Paternal Grandparents names until I was fortunate enough to discover them after requesting a copy of his Uncles Pennsylvania Death Certificate from 1943. The SOC Records in Donja Cemernica at Svetka Petka were destroyed. I have Cousins who emigrated to Canada from Batinova Kosa between the late 1960's and early 1990's. They are also looking for ancestors given contacts they still have in Croatia - without a lot of success. Thanks again, and I will continue in the direction that you suggest.

Best Regards - Joe

Hi Joe,

Please check out the articles in the Research section. Jugoslava posted a lot of material there and she also has contacts in Croatia. The last civil wars destroyed a lot of material and we are still ascertaining what is left, so patience is a virtue especially in the Balkans when doing family research from abroad. Please keep me updated on your research and let me know if you find anything of interest in the Research sections.

Regards,
Sergej
