Serbians were converted to Orthodoxy, largely due to the efforts of St. Sava and his father and brothers. When the family was Baptized into Christanity the new Slava Day was then the closest Feast Day that was celebrated by the church, at the day of conversion. Icons of that saint for their Slava were often present in the families home for prayers and protection, as churches were often distant from the home at that time in history. Large feast days like St.George, St. Nicholas, etc were big events and often many conversions happened on those feast days.
