SpectatorHello Zoran,
Ok the best way to do this is to first get the birth certificates of your parents in AU. Where they born in AU? In order for you to have a AU citizenship the government needed your original birth certificate. So you might want to contact immigration to see what they have.
Naumoski surname is from Macedonia. Its possible your parents are from Montenegro but your original ancestry came from Macedonia. I can start contacting people for you. If you want to use the PM function on the forum and send me a message with all the data you have and all organizations that you did contact untill now.
Best regards,
Sergej
SpectatorPeter,
Yes the laws can be strict. I always advice caution because Serbia knows a data privacy law similar to that of Germany when it comes to genealogical data. The archives are open but they are not found of data plunderers. Usually the archives file the application for you so I guess things are ok with your friend arranging affairs for you.
I dont know if you have contact with the Jewish community in Serbia. They hold their own books! Zrenjanin was hit a couple of times by the floodings a couple of years ago. We don’t know how much was lost.
If you go to Zrenjanin go by bus. It beats the train for sure. I will get back to you when I speak with Zrenjanin.
Regards,
Sergej
SpectatorHello Peter,
Some questions from my side

* Do you speak Serbian
* Do you have the Serbian nationalityIf you dont have the Serbian nationality you will have to get permission to access the archives. This is some old law still in place, its more a formality but I will contact the archives for you to see if you can visit them.

SpectatorThe precious treasure of Vojvodina has been kept and treated in the archives, museums and galleries. The central archive institution is The Archive of Vojvodina, founded in 1926. The written materials on history of Vojvodina, from XVIII century up to now, are kept in approximately 50.000 boxes, 20.000 administrative books and more than 1.000 maps and plans. Two hundred and fifty various funds were put in order, and the micro-filmed archive materials on the region of Vojvodina, presently in the foreign archives, were provided by the exchange. New materials are arriving all the time from the registers. The occupant took away wagons of precious materials during the withdrawal from Vojvodina in World War II, but only a small part of it was returned by the Yugoslav Government requests.
Regional archives are in Novi Sad, Zrenjanin, Subotica, Kikinda, Sombor, Sremska Mitrovica, Pancevo, Bela Crkva and Senta. The Serbian Academy of Art and Science Archive in Sremski Karlovci is a former patriarchy-metropolitan archive ceded to the Academy in 1949. The Manuscript Department of the Matica Srpska Society owns rich collections of the hand written letters and photographs of known writers and scientists.List of Archives in Vojvodina with addresses, telephones and length of materials:

SpectatorYou can try using the phonebook and search on those towns and see what it gives you. Then you could write them a letter. Never hurts to try. http://www.telekom.cg.yu/english.asp
