SpectatorHello Jeff,
I found 13 Stojakovic families in the Croation Phonebook for the region of Karlovac. See : http://imenik.ht.hr/?a=find&metoda=2&lang=0&naziv=stojakovic&izbor=3&zup=15&mjesto=&ulica=&Search=Tra%9Ei
But there is only one in Dalmatia; Knin see: http://imenik.ht.hr/?a=find&metoda=2&lang=0&naziv=stojakovic&izbor=3&zup=0&mjesto=Knin&ulica=&Search=Tra%9Ei
Sisak knows 34 hits see: http://imenik.ht.hr/?a=find&metoda=2&lang=0&naziv=stojakovic&izbor=3&zup=0&mjesto=Sisak&ulica=&Search=Tra%9Ei
Basicly from what I can see is that most families live near Karlovac, and Dalmatia. I don;t know in how far these people are formiliar with their heritage and if they would belong to the same line for that matter. Glina gives no hits. One question I have though is; Are there any typical names that keep on coming back in the family tree?
Anyways, we posted a job opening for Croatia so all we can do now is wait.

SpectatorBob,
Zeljko is currently occupied with some major buss. deals, he has harldy time for a social life, let alone checking on his email.
Currently we are in this situation. We are posting job openings at http://www.serbia-today.com for researchers. I dont know how long this is going to take. Basicly you run into the problem from doing research from abroad. One of our last researchers and board member moved to the States for a uncertain amount of time, so basicly it will be just remote work for many members.
As soon as we find a researcher we will let you all know. As it seems now, my firm Serbia Today will hold a media campaing soon so I am looking positive at this whole situation. But dont expect the archives to find a researcher for you. They are underpayed and understaffed. I hope this will change this year, but I have little confidence since the last time I spoke to the director. They still dont know their yearly budget, so I think that says enough.
The new research will also be tasked with translation, so we got all of this covered when we find a potential researcher. I know its now much at the moment, but we hope to change this soon.
Please register your found info in a genealogy program of choise. Interfamily relations can be very confusing, best thing is to have it registered.

Sergej
SpectatorActually I dont know how it works with the administrative district of Croatia. You can try this site: http://easytour.dr-staedtler.de/
Otherwise I fear I cannot help you out on this one.
Good luck!

try this one and if in Serbia go to the link site to the telekom site there. As for the zip codes, these are the only sites I know that offer it, but I am not sure if the codes are mentioned in the search results

SpectatorHello Stephan,
No we took the link away because people keep registering and then dont pay. They think they can fool the system. Just click on this link: http://www.rodoslovlje.com/voyager/amember/signup.php

SpectatorOk, this is the beginning of what we will post. If you wish to add something just say it.
1. The originCoA’s were used as a way to defend oneself and/or its community accompanied with a sign of recognition.
One of these recognition signs from a group (warriors) and those who belong to that group, was a stick with an object ( figure of an animal ), a flag or banner which portrayed colours and signs.
The shield was a way to defend oneself during battle. Out of experience in battle the shield received a hounorary place from those who practiced combat. These colours and signs were placed upon the shield, clothing and helmet. With warriors on horse they were displayed also on the clothing of the horse for recognition during the battle.
2. Development
Heraulds were introduced at one time to convey a message to the opposite party. ( one of the many tasks they had )These heraulds were recognisable by the previous mentioned items. The herauld was immune and could always pass to convey the message to the opposite party. He was supposed to have an extensive knowledge on the signs used by the other parties for identification. Out of this the registration of recognisable symbols and objects was born. At current day only the U.K, The Netherlands and Sweden maintained the heraulds position untill today.
3. Right of Usage
The right of using a symbol of recognition was give by a feudal lord. This symbol ( permanent one ) had to be earned. In the 13th and 14th century breaches were made in the crests to define a line in the family. The oldest son had this right but usually took over the original arm.
In e.g. western Europe Philip the II forbade on 23 of september 1595 the misusage of the Coat of Arms, and set out a guideline in the usage and registration. Only if one was a direct descendant it was allowed to use a Coat of Arms.In many countries it is a crime by law to use the Coat of Arms of an existing family. A coat of arms however is not connected to a surname. Meaning that if one with the name of Johnson uses a specific shield, this not the same case is for another Johnson.
So much for now. More to come later.Sergej
SpectatorHi there,
Your family would be classified as DonauSchwaben. What we can do is if you can scan the passport we can give it a look. As for Titel. I suggest you write the German community in Vojvodina. You can find their address in our link section at the main page.
Sergej
SpectatorOk, I hate it when this happens. It seems we need to make a blacklist of sites that one cannot trust. I am just having some doubts here with some other office workers on if we should make it a public one or not?
So, anyone….shoot and let me know what you think or wish to report. I am getting tired of the many fraud cases that are going around selling coat of arms. O well, just to let you all also know that the second edition of the SGS magazine will come out soon, and will pe posted on the members section. If you wish to add your own story, mail it to: [email protected]

SpectatorHello Stephan,
I think the best thing you could do is to write to the archives with the data you have. Their address is in Zajecar:
Istorijski arhiv timočka krajina
Nikole Pašića 160
Zaječar
SerbiaYes, the SpeakSerbian course is recommended by us. Its low priced and works good. It also gives you the ability to learn how to prenounce words.
If you wish you can become a member of the Serbian Genealogy Society. You can look ath the FAQ section for more info on that.
Yes eating oxes and pigs are one of the many hobbies in Serbia

Hope this helps, let me know.
Best regards,
Sergej
SpectatorZdravo Stephan,
Yes, swearing is the basic
But Serbian is easy so dont worry. You can learn it easily. Anyways, ask your mother is she has any old addresses of other relatives. If so then it should be easy work. Also because they can help you out then. Let me know if you get some info on that first. Then I will direct you to the local archives there so you can go on with research.Regards,
Sergej

The surname Milosavljevic is origanally from central Serbia. The family migrated throughout Serbia and also Montenegro. Brzohode is located close to Aleksandrovac is Central Serbia ( about 20km south of it)
If you have knowledge of any relatives still living there then it should be easy. Question I have for you is if you speak Serbian?
Regards,
Sergej
