SpectatorHi,
It tells you that they dont store the data you request in the government archives in Karlovac after they searched it. They tell you to try in Rakovici.

Pozdrav,

SpectatorIn reaction to the other posts you made. You should contact the city hall in the place where you were born. If you were born in Germany then you should go there for your records. You can check our link page for the address and contact them.
I would check the church records in Erdevik to see anything about children.
Sergej
SpectatorHi,
Well you are not a Croatian national for that matter. I would contact the Croatian embassy though to ask for advice on buying property. As for your father being from Istria, I dont know what his surname is.
Sergej
SpectatorAll documents in Croatia and in Croatian institutes such as the archives have been microfilmed in cooperation with the LDS church. You can check them at http://www.familysearch.org and at Family History Library Centers. There are however none in Serbia and none of the Serbian archives have been microfilmed.
A lot of Serbian records were destroyed during the war, however data stored in archives have been preserved. We have members that are doing a slow and timestaking research because of the destruction. The SOC did not store any copies of the books and most likely there is an unknown amount of data lost forever.
In Serbia our archives are not microfilmed. In case of natural or any other disaster we run the risk of loosing all our heritage.
Take into account that not all microfilmed data is cataloged yet and online. Thats why you need to locate a Family History Library Center or rent a microfilm to study.
Sergej
SpectatorThe archives of Croatia have been microfilmed. You can access them either directly through the national archives of Croatia or through the LDS centers. Also try http://www.familysearch.org
Changing of surnames is possible. You would need to find the relevant facts through birth certificates though.

SpectatorWell, where will she be staying? Does she know anyone there? Does she speak Serbian?
You can find the addresses of the archives here on the forum, just use the search option for that. I dont know what you specifically need?
Sergej
SpectatorOfficially Serbs are recognised in Croatia as a minority. This means that the documents in Serbian Churches have been microfilmed as well, which is more important for us as a society.
Sergej

SpectatorHi,
I moved it to the apropiate forum. Do you happen to have a last address? There is no one with a phone connection in Novi Sad with that name, is it her maiden name?

SpectatorThat would be Pančevo and Kovin. We have members there that possibly could assist. You would have to check with the archives in Pančevo and church records in Pančevo and Kovin.

How long does your sister plan to go there? The archives are not microfilmed so you will need to do all work manually
and that takes some time. -
