(Milos Tsernianski)The Fall of Yugoslavia: The Third Balkan War
(Misha Glenny)Black Lamb, Grey Falcon
(Rebeca West)These are the one that I would recommend to read. The others are heavy political and I doubt you would findy anything of historically neutral in there.
I will soon post some online books that I know of.

SpectatorDont know, can you give me more info such as ISBN# or Author?

SpectatorIt is a short piece of Anthropology. It was published in: Anthropology Today 9 (1): 4-9, Feb 1993 Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland
Historical research is lagging in Serbia, but I concur with most of the article. The facts are displayed properly, and it does show how things were influenced. I believe reading Konstantin Jireceks “The History of the Serbs” is also something I would recommend.
I am looking into this article to see if there were any reviews.
If I find something I will post it here.Sergej
SpectatorI believe you should contact the archives of Kragujevac and Smederevska Palanka. You can find their addressess in the Message List; Topic Addressess of Archives.

SpectatorHello Stephanie,
Devic as we write it in Serbian is a comon name. Do you have a little bit more info so I can help you? I need a place of origin from where they moved or something like that.
Thnx
Sergej
SpectatorMislim da su iz Kosovo i ima Grb.
Sergej
SpectatorYou can find the addresses of the archives in the root forum folder. Good luck.
Sergej
SpectatorAlso before I forget, families during those times migrated a lot. Most of the names you mentioned are Serbian of origin but come from regions like Dalmatia and Montenegro.
Sergej
SpectatorLulic is from Montenegro originally from the place of Zagarac.
As for the other information I can only give you one advice after checking out your information on genealogy.com
You will need to write to the individual archives with the following information:
*name
*date of birth
*place of birthNow the archives in Slovenia and Croatia have been microfimed so you can access them with more ease through e.g. the archives there directly (write them a letter) or through the LDS family history centres.
But when you write to Serbia its a different ball game. Politics havent made it possible yet to microfilm, so everything is archaic there. Meaning you will have to write them and to be patient. Some of our members can testify of that. Unfortunally that is the only way! We hope that things will get better but untill then research can only be done that way. For reference, check the other posts on our forums and you will see what I mean. But posting on this forum is also good since we get a lot of visitors and maybe you bump into family

SpectatorHi,
Not only name but place of birth and religion/family saint is very important. There are many families with the same surname but that doesnt mean they are related.
Sergej
SpectatorHi,
Well, there are a lot of people with those surnames. You will need to narrow it down with dates of birth if possible.
Best search would be here

Sergej
SpectatorMost likely not. The SOC doesnt like the LDS church and therefore they do not allow microfilming. Serbia knows tight privacy rules and if there would be anything microfilmed then most likely you can find at the FHLC because they fear the “plundering” of their national heritage.
Best thing to do is to contact the FHLC or the archives in Serbia directly for family related data.
